Frequently asked questions

Can I get financial aid?

ASU Universal Learner Courses aren’t eligible for federal financial aid, but you can register for a course for just $25. Once you’ve successfully completed the course, you can convert it to real ASU credits on an official ASU transcript for $400 and you have up to one year to decide if you want to add the credits.

Can I use my employer’s “tuition reimbursement” towards Universal Learner Courses?

It depends on the employer. Some learners have successfully gotten their credits reimbursed by their company, so it won’t hurt to ask! It’s always best to talk with your HR department before you attempt to get credit, and be sure to mention this is real college credit provided by Arizona State University.

Are these real college courses?

Yes, ASU Universal Learner Courses are university courses taught by the same prestigious faculty and instructors who teach on Arizona State University campuses teach our courses, so the rigor and quality of course materials is the same. The difference? Universal Learner Courses give you the chance to dip your toes into the real college course experience without risk to your wallet or your GPA. Students receive a transcript after passing and paying for the course that can be used to apply to ASU or transferred to another college. These courses appear identically to a course you would take online or on campus as an enrolled ASU student.
